Teams
Drill
Drill Team is a group of cadets who participate in military drill movements during everyday activities and competitions. Military drill teaches cadets discipline, precision, teamwork, and leadership.
Academic
Academic team is an intellectual group of cadets who put in time and effort to study the NJROTC curriculum in depth. They compete in local and national level NJROTC academic competitions.
Color Guard
Color Guard is a team of four cadets who present the National colors at competitions and community service events.
Rifle
Marksmanship is an air rifle program which introduces cadets to marksmanship and the sport of shooting. Cadets are instructed in three shooting positions: Standing, Kneeling, and Prone.
Physical Fitness
The Physical Fitness team is made up of ten cadets (two teams of five - three members of one gender and two of the other). They compete against other JROTC units at the local, regional, and national levels. A competition consists of push-ups, sit-ups, one mile run, or various other athletic events.
Orienteering
The Orienteering is a time-based competition. Cadets navigate in unfamiliar territory using a map and/or compass in search of control markers (checkpoints). Most competitions are designed for the individual cadet.
Drone
Drone is a STEM aerial based program which introduces cadets to naval aviation drone technology. Cadets who compete earn an Inter-Service Competition ribbon.
Sea Perch
Sea Perch is an innovative underwater robotics STEM based program which introduces cadets to naval engineering. Cadets who compete earn an Inter-Service Competition ribbon.
Cyber Patriot
Cyber Patriot is a STEM computer-based team. It was initiated by the Air Force Association to inspire students towards careers in cybersecurity or other cyber initiatives critical to our nation’s future.
